Welcome

German Polo Association
Greeting from the President

Dear DPV members and friends of polo,

I am very pleased to welcome you to the 2026 polo season!

German polo continues to develop steadily – athletically, structurally, and as a community. Once again, we can look forward to exciting tournaments, dedicated organizers, and many opportunities to experience polo in all its facets: competitive, fair, and driven by a genuine passion for both horse and sport.

A special focus remains on the national and international presence of our sport. German teams and players are regularly represented at international tournaments, proudly carrying the name of the DPV beyond our borders. At the same time, it remains our goal to offer attractive domestic competitions and German Championships of a consistently high sporting standard.

Youth development continues to be a central pillar of our association’s work. Supporting young players, opening up perspectives for them, and passing on polo in a sustainable way is an investment in the future of our sport. Equally encouraging is the ongoing development of women’s polo, which has become a strong and steadily growing part of the German tournament calendar.

Polo thrives on commitment, voluntary engagement, and the cohesion of all members and friends of the sport. I would therefore like to express my sincere thanks to all clubs, organizers, stewards, officials, coaches, umpires, and, above all, our members, whose dedication, time, and passion – often on a voluntary basis – make polo in Germany possible. Without the many members who invest a great deal of time and energy in the development and promotion of their clubs, it would be very difficult to maintain polo at its current level in Germany today.

I wish us all a successful, fair, and above all injury-free 2026 season – with great matches, inspiring encounters, and many moments that remind us why we love this sport so much.

Let’s enjoy polo – together.

Warm regards,

Yours

Nolly (Oliver Winter)

Impressions:  Polo in Germany

Once the "sport of kings", polo has developed into a fast-paced leisure activity for many hundreds of sportsmen and sportswomen (and even more horses) in Germany alone.
Since the founding of the DPV in 1972, both the number of members and the activities have increased - from regional tournaments and German and international championships to a wide range of youth activities and social events.

The association accompanies and promotes all these events by, providing tournament schedules and monitoring that the events run according to the rules. The commissions of the federation check and award the handicaps of the players, are involved in the promotion of young talents and pay attention to the observance of animal welfare regulations. Last but not least, the association assumes the patronage of the German Polo Championships.
